King Charles shared an important piece of advice with his son, Prince William, amid rumours that the monarch may abdicate in his favour sooner than expected.
According to a report by Closer Weekly, Charles was reluctant to give up his power because he waited for years to become the King and now has difficulty carrying on his duties due to cancer diagnosis.
However, Charles knows passing on the throne to his son is the best decision for the monarchy as he believes William would be a great fit for the role.
Sharing more details about the matter, the insider noted that the King relied on William and his wife, Kate Middleton, for support even before he was diagnosed of cancer.
“He’s very proud of both his son and Kate,” shared the insider. “William has been at his father’s side, and he’s up-to-date with the responsibilities and duties that go with the crown.”
Revealing the piece of advice, the monarch gave to the future King, the insider said, “Charles’ best advice to his son has been to be steady on your feet. Take the time to listen and think things through.”
The source said, Charles, who ascended to the throne following the demise of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, “knows the monarchy will be in good hands with William.”
As for William and Kate, the insider said the couple knows “they have some big shoes to fill,” adding, “The responsibilities are immense, but they’re up for the challenge.”
