Blackpink's Jisoo hints at major solo plans

Jisoo from the K-pop group Blackpink, dropped a mysterious teaser hinting at the future plans for her solo career.

The singer’s comeback has been highly anticipated by her fans since the release of her first album Me, as well as its hit title track Flower, in 2023.

She is also preparing to make her return as an actress in the upcoming Korean series, Newtopia.

The drama follows a freshly separated couple in the middle of a zombie apocalypse as they attempt to find each other. Jisoo will be playing the role of Yeong Joo, a hugely popular college student at her university’s engineering department.

Speaking about the character, she stated, “I was drawn to Yeong Joo’s charm from the start, and I wanted to portray her as authentically as possible. I hope viewers enjoy watching her grow in many ways.”

The director, Yoon Sung Hyun, also praised the singer, “Her quirky and humorous traits aligned 99 percent with the Yeong Joo I envisioned in the script, and she brought the character to life beyond my expectations.”

The trailer for Newtopia released to mixed reviews, being set to premiere on 7 February.
