The British tabloid media has constantly written about Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis while discussing the future of the monarchy but not much thought has been given to a royal figure who has largely remained shrouded in mystery.

Long regarded as reserved and introspective member of the royal family, James, the son of Prince Edward and Sophie, is also known for his quite demeanor and reluctance to embrace the public spotlight.

While other family members thrived in the limelight attending galas and embarking on official tours, James, Earl of Wessex, was more often found immersed in books, history and arts.

Friends have described him thoughtful, intelligent and deeply private, traits that set him apart from a traditional royal figure.

This contrast made him favorite of those who prefers substance over spectacle, though it also sparked speculation about what lay beneath his reserved exterior.

Prince William is expected to do everything at his disposal to meet the modern world's demands that constantly question the relevance of the monarchy, whenever he ascends to the British throne after his father King Charles.

The Prince of Wales and his wife Kate Middleton are likely to rely heavily on their own children Prince George and Princess Charlotte when they embark on their new mission of modernizing the institution.

Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Sophie, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are likely to lend their support to the new king for the greater good of the Windsors, the king will still need a new and a young face to convince anti-monarchists that the institution of monarchy is still relevant.

William can't be oblivious to the fact that everyone around him would want to become his blue-eyed boy, but the person he will need beside him should be the one who will be least interested in the job.

King Charles reposes full confidence in James's father, Prince Edward, while his mother Duchess Sophie is considered close to Kate Middleton.

It won't be surprising if William and Kate, as the king and the queen, choose James as one of their close aides in the future.

He might be their answer to critics.
