Brooke Shields has dished out the reason for marrying her first husband Andre Agassi.
In her recently released memoir, The Blue Lagoon actress shared insights into her relationship with her ex-husband.
Brooke Shields is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman was published on January 14, 2025.
She began by revealing the reason behind marrying an Olympic gold medalist, and penned, “One of the reasons I married Andre was that I liked being in a relationship with someone more famous than I was."
"After a lifetime of always being the focus, it was a relief to be able to slink into the background a bit. He was a gallant guy, too, and I loved that."
Shields tied the knot with the world No. 1 tennis player, Andre Agassi, in 1997. After two years of marriage, they parted ways in 1999.
Recalling how her first husband responded to her insecurities, she added, "When I would profess my insecurities to my first husband, he would always say, 'I wish you could see yourself the way I see you.'’
“However, when I said, 'Will you still love me if I'm big and fat?' I could never have expected his response. I love you too much to let you get big and fat!"
Before concluding, the 59-year-old actress shared, “I started to spin a bit, but we all know how that relationship turned out, so let’s move on.”
For those unversed, Shields married to Chris Henchy in 2001 and share two daughters Rowan Francis Henchy, and Grier Hammond Henchy.
