On the late night of January 16, Saif Ali Khan, a megastar in Bollywood, was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital after an attack by a burglar at his home.
Earlier reports say the Bollywood star's Ibrahim Ali Khan with the help of house help, took him in an auto-rickshaw to the hospital which is almost two kilometers away from their Bandra home.
The choice of the vehicle, a three-wheeler, became an hour of the need after there was reportedly no driver at the home.
Mumbai police also stated that the Race star's 23-year-old son and a house help brought the actor to the hospital around 3:30 am — approximately an hour after the incident which saw the intruder stab him six times.
A source close to the authorities told ANI, "When the actor tried to intervene and pacify the man, he attacked Saif Ali Khan and injured him. Police are investigating the matter."
But Deccan Herald reported that Saif's manager has refuted this and added only house help took the 54-year-old to the hospital.
The father-of-four meanwhile is out of danger after receiving injuries in the neck, hand, and near to the spinal cord.
"He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger," Doctor Nitin Dange, Neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital, said.
The Mumbai Police claimed to have identified one accused in the attack on Saif. "The accused took the staircase with the intent to rob Saif's home," said Dikshit Gedam, DCM, Zone 8, Mumbai Police.
