Tony Armstrong publicly addressed a series of vile racist comments he received on Friday, issuing a sharp response to online trolls.

The former ABC News Breakfast presenter shared screenshots of the offensive remarks on Instagram, which were directed at a post he made advocating for Australia’s wealth to be returned to First Nations people.

Among the shocking comments, one troll wrote, "This smug td is annoying," while another called him a "fing ego w**er."

According to Daily Mail, a particularly abhorrent remark read, "I'm surprised you know what rent is. You know, with the handouts and all."

Meanwhile, Armstrong did not hold back in his response, writing, "I love living rent-free in these losers' heads. I'm in the f****** mood today."

Moreover, the television star, known for his advocacy on racial issues, has been vocal about the need for systemic change in Australia.

Following the 2023 referendum that rejected the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, Armstrong expressed his heartbreak by posting an image of the Aboriginal flag with a broken heart, captioned, "Shattered.”

In 2024, Armstrong was nominated for the prestigious Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.

While he ultimately lost to Larry Emdur, he acknowledged the historic significance of his nomination as a proud Aboriginal man, stating it would have been “cool to be the first” to win the accolade, as per the publication.
