Kenny Chesney recalls 'making up to' Taylor Swift

Kenny Chesney just expressed his love for Taylor Swift.

He has been a hardcore Swiftie since the early days of the pop star’s career and had even invited her to e his opening act on his Flip Flop Summer Tour in 2007.

However, when a beer company signed up to sponsor the event, he had no choice but to ask the Blank Space crooner to not perform.

Though, to compensate for the disappointment, Chesney gave the then 17-year-old Swift a huge amount of cash, in hopes that he could make it up to her.

During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he told the host, “I felt terrible because she was gonna lose some money. I wanted to make it up to her.”

The Lover crooner mentioned this act of generosity when she was interviewed by Time after being named their Peron of the Year in 2023.

“I had to call Taylor and tell her she couldn't go out on tour with me,” the Don’t Blink hitmaker explained, adding, “which now seems absurd, right?” a subtle reference to how Swift has come a long in her career and successfully concluded her wildly successful Eras Tour.

“I said, 'look, I feel terrible.' because she was going to lose some money, and I gave her a specific amount of money,” Chesney further recalled, also revealing, “It was quite a bit of money.... because I wanted to make it up to her, right.”
