Craig Thomas, co-creator of the beloved series How I Met Your Mother, sat down for an interview with People where he discussed its spinoff.
How I Met Your Father featured many of the cast members from the original including Neil Patrick Harris as well as Cobie Smulders. However, the actor behind the protagonist, Josh Radnor, never made an appearance as Ted Mosby.
“We weren’t really involved. Put it this way, it would’ve had to be a really good idea for me to come to Josh to say, ‘Can you be in this show?’ It didn't end up going that way, so it’s okay,” Thomas explained.
The primary series had a successful run from 2005 to 2014 meanwhile the spinoff, which starred Hilary Duff only ran for two seasons from 2022 to 2023.
Before the end of the original, Jason Segel had claimed that he was not opposed to appearing on a spinoff meanwhile Alyson Hannigan stated that she was not prepared to watch it quite yet.
However, it isn’t the end of Thomas and Radnor’s work together, as the former claimed they’re working on a project together.
“Well, I’m thrilled that Josh moved to New York because now Josh and I will see each other a lot more. I’ll tease that we’re going to be doing a little project together, that we’re going to be putting into the world in the spring, but I’m not going to say what it is."
