Matthew McConaughey turns fanboy for Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman

Matthew McConaughey is nominating Anthony Hopkins for People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" title.

After a recent reunion at the 2025 Joy Awards in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, McConaughey took to Instagram on Sunday with some photos taken on the occasion.

In the first picture, McConaughey, 55, and his Amistad costar Hopkins, 87, looked dapper in black suits as they posed together at the formal event.

Next were selfies with another Amistad star Morgan Freeman, 87, as well as one with Martin Lawrence along with a written shoutout for each of them.

"1. it’s past time this Sir is Peoples Sexiest Man Alive / 2. 1st class legend mensch / 3. I mean, who else you want straightening your tie before you hit the stage?" read his caption.

McConaughey's endorsement for Hopkins as People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive comes after he, himself, was named one nearly 20 years ago.

The Lincoln Lawyer star recently gave the publication a cheeky response to the annual prestige in 2024.

"People tell me, 'You're no longer the Sexiest Man Alive, McConaughey,' for the last 19 years, every time someone else has been crowned. And I say, 'Well, I'm still alive. Come on!' “

He added, "If you're named it and you're still alive, you're still Sexiest Man Alive. That was my joke going forward with everything."
