A renowned American actor, Ke Huy Quan, recently got candid and opened up about his dream role that he wants to play.

Speaking to Empire, the 53-year-old shared that he would like “to play a bad guy,” mentioning the 007 franchise and Hugh Grant’s performance in Heretic as inspirations for the villain role.

The Oscar-winning actor articulated, “I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain. Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in Heretic. I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy. That would be a lot of fun.”

He noted, “I don’t want to be perceived as an action star.”

“I hope I’m perceived as an actor who does action well. So, I’m going to take it one step at a time. The best part about being an actor is, you get to play a variety of different characters. I love [Loki‘s] Ouroboros because he’s so different than [EEAAO‘s] Waymond, and Waymond is so different than [Love Hurts‘] Marvin Gable,” Quan quipped.

The Kung Fu Panda 4 star went on to confess that he wants to try something different after years of choreographing stunts and fighting for movies like 2000’s X-Men and 2001’s The One.

For the unversed, Ke Huay Quan has received an Oscar and Golden Globe for his role in the 2022 comedy-drama film Everything Everywhere All at Once.

It is pertinent to mention that Quan is all set to appear in the action movie Love Hurt as Marvin Gable, a retired hitman turned realtor, which will be released on February 7, 2025.
