Michael Phelps throws race car party as son Nico turns one

Michael Phelps is celebrating his youngest son on his first birthday.

The professional swimmer, 39, and his wife Nicole Johnson dropped some behind-the-scenes on Sunday from the toddler's birthday bash.

The birthday boy, Nico, was dressed in a race car driver outfit as he posed next to his customised birthday cake in some photos.

Michael, Nicole, and their three older boys Boomer, 8, Beckett, 6, Maverick, 5 also joined the baby boy for a family photo, with all of Nico's brothers rocking t-shirts that read "Pit Crew."

"And just like that… we have a 1 year old. Happy Birthday Nico," the couple wrote in their caption. "You love your brothers and your puppies, cottage cheese, blueberries and being outside. We’re grateful for your first lap of life together."

Nico has featured on his dad's Instagram grid several times—previously in August when the retired swimmer posted a series of photos from the 2024 Olympics.

In the pictures, the father-son duo could be seen hanging out in the French city as they explored the Eiffel Tower and watched the games from the stands
