Laura Dern honored the memory of her longtime friend and collaborator, filmmaker David Lynch, who passed away last Wednesday after a prolonged battle with emphysema.

The 57-year-old actress shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, featuring a nostalgic photo of the two sitting together, smiling in conversation.

Alongside the image, Dern wrote, “Happy birthday, tidbit. I will love and miss you every day for the rest of my life.” The tribute resonated with fans, garnering over 32,000 likes from her 1.2 million followers.

According to Daily Mail, Lynch, who died just days before his 79th birthday, left behind a legacy of cinematic brilliance.

Moreover, he and Dern shared a professional bond spanning decades, beginning with their first collaboration in 1986’s Blue Velvet, when Dern was just 17.

Additionally, the pair reunited for Wild at Heart (1990), Inland Empire (2006), and Lynch’s 2017 revival of Twin Peaks.

As per the publication, Lynch’s children also honored their father in a joint statement shared over the weekend, describing him as a “guiding light of creativity, love, and peace.”

In the memory of the late director, they invited fans worldwide to participate in a 10-minute group meditation on what would have been his 79th birthday, January 20, at noon PST.

Furthermore, the statement read, “Let us come together, wherever we are, to honor his legacy by spreading peace and love across the world.”

In announcing his death, Lynch’s family expressed their grief in a poignant Facebook post, stating, “There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’”

It is worth mentioning that Lynch, remembered for his artistic genius and innovative storytelling, is survived by his four children: Jennifer, Austin, Riley, and Lula.
