A two-minute CCTV footage has gone viral on social media in Pakistan, allegedly showing dogs dragging a woman on a road in Karachi. The footage has sparked concern among online users, with many criticising the Sindh government for not addressing the incident.

The claim is baseless.

On December 18, a Facebook user posted a two-minute CCTV footage, which supposedly shows a group of dogs dragging and then attacking a woman on a road.

“Let’s make sure Murtaza Wahab [the mayor of Karachi] sees this video,” wrote the user. The post has been viewed over 413 times to date.

The video was filmed in India, not Pakistan, confirmed a fact-check in India and media reports.

Abhishek Kumar, a senior fact-checker from Alt News, an independent fact-checking website in India, said that the footage was recorded in Jalandhar, Punjab. Kumar also shared a post from the Agra Police Commissionerate on X (formerly Twitter), which verified that the incident occurred in Jalandhar.

The incident involving a pack of dogs was also reported by India Today on December 16. The report stated that the video was filmed in Jalandhar, where a 65-year-old woman was mauled.
