Wendy Williams’ family voices anger over her 'unusual' guardianship

Wendy Williams' family is struggling with a deep sense of guilt over her health condition, expressing a desire to "do more" as the TV host faces ongoing challenges.

The media personality and writer’s future is still tied to the court and her court-appointed guardian.

A source told In Touch Weekly that they "want more access to the troubled lady" and feel it is unfair.

The insider said, “Wendy’s under strict guardianship with little contact with the outside world and her relatives are fretting over what they can do to change things. They’re getting louder in their opposition and challenging the rules.”

For the unversed, the famous host of The Wendy Williams Show was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia caused by brain damage from alcohol in 2019.

A neurologist told her family about the diagnosis, as she was considered unable to make decisions at the time.

Notably, the 60-year-old was placed under guardianship in 2022.

A court filing made by lawyers for Sabrina Morrissey, the appointed guardian, stated that Wendy, a New Jersey native, "has been afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated."

Being placed under guardianship is unusual, and now the Dancing with the Stars alum’s family is asking for more clarity and access to her.

They especially want this as videos show fans interacting with her in what seems like a normal way.

“They want to see more of Wendy and be able to check on her, spend time with her, take her out for an ice cream or shopping and it’s hurting them that they’re being denied the decency to see for themselves what’s happening to Wendy,” the source stated.
