Filmmaker Robert Eggers is on to his next big gig after the box-office success of Nosferatu.

The filmmaker is now reportedly set to direct Werwulf, which he co-wrote with Icelandic poet and screenwriter Sjón, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Eggers and Sjón—who previously coproduced Viking vengeance epic The Northman—will be joining hands with Focus Features to produce Werwulf. Focus Features happens to have financed and distributed all of Eggers' films to date, not to forget The Witch (2015) and the hotly-released Nosferatu.

Moreover, Thursday Murder Club's Chris Columbus will executive produce Werwulf alongside Eleanor Columbus after working with Eggers on Lily-Rose Depp-starrer film Nosferatu.

Werwulf—set in 13th century England—was originally to be shot in black and white like Eggers' The Lighthouse, the publication noted, adding that won't be the case anymore.

“Suffice to say that considering the setting and the dialect, Eggers is promising another deep dive into a muddy, costumed and violent time period consistent with his oeuvre, which has earned him a loyal film following,” per the outlet's exclusive report.

Werwulf is slated for a Christmas Day 2026 release in North America.
