Queen Camilla made a heartfelt appeal while delivery a powerful speech just a day after Prince Harry claimed “monumental victory” in his war against the British press.
The Queen Consort attended a Holocaust Memorial Day reception hosted by the Anne Frank Trust to mark the 80th death anniversary of the teenager.
During her speech, Camilla highlighted the disturbing rises in Islamophobia and antisemitism while emphasising the of fighting prejudice.
“This year we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the death of Anne Frank in Bergen Belsen, at the age of 15. Had she lived, she would be 95,” Camilla began her speech.
“We can only guess at what she would have made of her legacy,” she continued. “Yet her story demonstrates that even the quietest, loneliest voice in the wilderness can change the world. That is the true power of words.”
The Queen spoke out against growing hate and prejudice and called for people to come together to fight against intolerance and racism.
Recalling words of Holocaust survivor Marian Turski, she added, "Don’t be complacent. Because if you become complacent, before you know it, some kind of Auschwitz will suddenly appear from nowhere and befall you and your descendants.”
Camilla also warned of "disturbing rises in Islamophobia and other forms of racism and prejudice,” and said, “Let’s unite in our commitment to take action.”
“To speak up and to ensure that the words ‘Never Forget’ are a guiding light that charts a path towards a better, brighter, and more tolerant future for us all.”
This comes after Harry received substantial damages and an apology from Rupert Murdoch's British newspaper group over their “serious intrusion” in his life.
