Scarlett Johansson has expressed her shock over a joke her husband, Colin Jost, made during Saturday Night Live, by calling it "just wrong" during an appearance on the Today show.
The 40-year-old actress, who is set to co-host Today with Jenna & Friends, broke her silence on Friday regarding the gag, which aired during SNL’s Christmas episode last month.
According to Daily Mail, the joke, crafted by Jost’s Weekend Update co-host Michael Che, took a "vulgar" turn, leaving Scarlett stunned.
While discussing the moment with Jenna Bush Hager, Scarlett revealed she had been given a heads-up about the segment but was unprepared for its tone.
As per the publication, she said, "Honestly, Jenna, I felt like it was like To Catch a Predator. The jokes were so vulgar," she said.
The joke, which revolved around Costco's roast beef sandwich being removed from the menu, involved Jost quipping, "I've been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kids."
Moreover, Scarlett, who was watching backstage, was visibly shocked and exclaimed, "Oh my God," on camera.
Additionally, the actress shared that even fellow star Emma Stone was taken aback by the gag, telling her, "That was not okay." Scarlett also humorously accused Che of having a "vendetta" against her and Jost, joking, "What did we do to you, Michael?"
As per the outlet’s reports, Jost, who married Scarlett in 2020, later admitted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he was "genuinely surprised" by the joke and its graphic punchline, saying it was a "legitimate live moment."
Furthermore, the couple shares a three-year-old son, Cosmo, while Scarlett has a 10-year-old daughter, Rose, from a previous marriage.
