Michael Jackson biopic faces reshoot over legal discovery: Report

The upcoming biopic about Michael Jackson is reportedly facing reshoots after a past legal agreement involving an accuser was uncovered.

According to a report from Puck on January 23, the film initially included details of the 1993 lawsuit filed by Evan Chandler, whose son Jordan accused Jackson of sexual abuse when he was 13.

Moreover, Jackson’s estate has always denied the allegations.

As per US Weekly’s claims, Jackson and the Chandlers settled the lawsuit out of court for $23 million, and part of the settlement included a clause preventing the Chandlers from being mentioned or dramatized in any film.

Additionally, the script for the biopic, which had previously referenced the legal battle, now requires changes due to this clause.

The film, titled Michael, is scheduled for reshoots in March, as confirmed by TMZ on January 24.

Furthermore, the biopic has been in development since 2019, with Graham King producing.

As per the outlet’s reports, Jaafar Jackson, the late pop star’s nephew, is set to portray him, alongside a star-studded cast including Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, and Laura Harrier.

It is worth mentioning that the biopic will chronicle Jackson’s life, from his early days with The Jackson 5 to his tragic death in 2009, as per the publication.

The release date, originally set for April 2024, has been postponed to October.
