Patrick Dempsey’s run on Grey’s Anatomy wasn’t all nice and fun.

Dempsey played neurosurgeon Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd for 11 seasons on the show.

Now, an insider says his behavior on the set was far from dreamy. They claim he serious issues with co star Ellen Pompeo and creator Shonda Rhimes, who allegedly ultimately killed off his character to put an end to the clash.

Former Grey's Anatomy executive producer James D. Parriott says the actor had issues with the long hours. "There were (Human Resources) issues," he told Radar Online.

"He had this hold on the set where he knew he could stop production and scare people," Parriott claimed.

Now, a pal of the actor says he's taking his new role in Dexter: Original Sin seriously so his career can flourish again.

"Patrick realizes he's burned bridges, but he sees this as his last chance to save his career. He isn't about to mess up this chance," they said.

Patrick Dempsey himself said he’s grateful to be working again: "I'm just really grateful to have a job and I'm really enjoying it.”
