Big update about 'Lanterns' series revealed

Lanterns is the upcoming series on HBO, and the villain for the show has reportedly been confirmed.

Deadline reported Ulrich Thomsen will be cast as the key antagonist in the comic book Sinestro.

"Ruthless yet undeniably charming, Sinestro is a former Green Lantern who turned rogue. Sinestro's manipulative nature drives his enduring obsession with his former mentee, Hal Jordan," the description of the character reads.

Sinestro is a key part of the Green Lantern world. His abuse of power prompted authorities to boot him out of the Green Lantern Corps. 

Mark Strong portrayed him in 2011 Green Lantern, and different actors voiced the character in several animated projects.

The latest casing comes after the show previously announced other leads of the series Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, and Poorna Jagannathan.

Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King wrote The Lanterns as its logline reads, "new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland."
