Suicide car-bomber kills two, injures 27 in Bannu

BANNU: A deadly explosion resulted in the deaths of two people including a woman and hospitalization of at least 27 others when a suicide car-bomber wreaked havoc near an urban police station here in the wee hours of Wednesday, Geo News reported.

According to police the bomber drove a car packed with explosives into the buildings behind Domail police station, which detonated with a bang that was heard miles around.

In the wake of the predawn bombing, at least seven houses were reported to have been destroyed, some completely, some partially.

"The houses, which the explosion turned into wrecks were located near Domail police station, however, no harm came upon the station house and the cops inside" said a Geo News correspondent.

The emergency responders who arrived first at the site of explosion feared more fatalities as they claimed some of the casualties they had ambulanced to the hospital were critical.

The cops surmise that the apparent target of the bomber was the police station.

Jumping into investigation, the police have cordoned off the area to start a search operation. More details are awaited.
