Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly given a green signal to director Farah Khan regarding the sequel of hit 2004 blockbuster Mai Hoon Na.

According to Pinkvilla, the actor is “interested” in making a sequel only if the script is worth it and would live up to the hype of the fan favourite action-drama.

Sources have revealed that the sequel of the movie is in early development as Farah, who is also a close friend of Shah Rukh, has come up with an idea that has intrigued the actor.

"Main Hoon Na holds a special place for Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan as it was their first major production under Red Chillies,” the insider said.

"Farah has devised an exciting idea for the sequel, and SRK is quite interested in the direction she plans to take," they added.

“She is currently working on the screenplay with her team, alongside Red Chillies’ in-house writers."

The report further revealed that the King of Bollywood is being cautious as he insists that the second installment must be equally impactful as the original.

"Shah Rukh is not interested in making a sequel just for the sake of it. He understands how much Main Hoon Na means to audiences and wants the second installment to be equally powerful,” they said.

“He has instructed Farah and the writing team to focus on crafting a compelling screenplay before making a final decision. He is expected to review the first draft by mid-2025.”

The 2004 film, produced by Gauri Khan and Ratan Jain, also starred Zayed Khan, Sushmita Sen, and Amrita Sing in lead roles.
