In a major blow, India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury he sustained during the final Test against Australia in Sydney last month.

According to a statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the selection committee has named pacer Harshit Rana as Bumrah’s replacement.

This is the second ICC tournament Bumrah will miss due to injury, having previously been sidelined from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia due to a back injury that ended up with the pacer needing a surgery.

Additionally, India included spinner Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad, replacing Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was originally part of the provisional team.

Rana, who was named as Bumrah's backup for the England ODIs, has been impressive for the Indian side, scalping four wickets in his first two outings in the 50-over format.

India’s squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill (Vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Varun Chakaravarthy.

Non Travelling substitutes: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube.

The three players will travel to Dubai as and when required.
