Pakistan defeat Japan to reach 22nd Asian Junior Squash semi-finals

Pakistan will now face South Korea in the semi-final tomorrow

KARACHI: Pakistan secured a spot in the semi-finals of the 22nd Asian Junior Squash Team Championships 2025 after defeating Japan 2-1 in the quarter-finals on Friday.

Anas Ali Shah gave Pakistan an early lead with a 11-4, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8 victory over Renshi Makino in 53 minutes. 

Japan's Shu Takahashi leveled the match after a hard-fought 57-minute encounter, beating Sakhi Ullah Khan Tareen 11-9, 11-6, 2-11, 7-11, 11-8.

In the decisive match, Abdullah Nawaz delivered a commanding performance, overcoming Shunsaku Kariyazono 11-7, 11-5, 12-10 in just 30 minutes to seal Pakistan's victory.

Pakistan will now face South Korea in the semifinal tomorrow.

Earlier, Pakistan remained unbeaten in the group stage of the tournament with victories over India, China and Macau.
