LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority has doubled the compensation amount from Rs. 500,000 to Rs 1 million to each family of the 24 victims of LDA plaza inferno.
LDA sources said here Tuesday the LDA will also take care of the persons injured in the incident and a sum of Rs 100,000 will be paid to each of the three seriously injured employees while the seven officials receiving minor injuries will get Rs 50,000 each.
In order to provide reasonable jobs to the qualified children of the victim employees, the Lahore Development Authority will seek special permission from the Punjab government and a summery will be forwarded to the Chief Minister Punjab, for this purpose at the earliest.
In recognition of the remarkable services of Zafar Khan, an employee of a private organization, the LDA will award him a prize of Rs 500,000. He saved lives of five persons, trapped in fire, by pulling them on the rooftop of LDA plaza with the help of a rope.
The decisions were taken in the Governing Body meeting of LDA, here, Tuesday which was chaired by District Co-ordination Officer and Chairman LDA Syed Rizwan Mahboob.
The meeting was participated by Director General LDA Dr. Ijaz Munir, Additional DG (HQ) Mariam Kayani, Additional DG (Housing) Muhammad Usman, Managing Director WASA Dr. Javed Iqbal, Chief Engineer LDA Asrar Saeed Khan and representatives of the provincial Local Government, Housing, P&D and Finance Departments besides administrators of the nine constituent towns of the City District, Lahore.
