KARACHI: Deputy Commissioner District Central, Afzal Zaidi on Thursday closed down a local restaurant indefinitely at Aisha Manzil for ‘failing to maintain the standards of food hygiene’.
The action is being described as a result of taking a cue from Ayesha Mumtaz’s raids in Lahore which saw a number of restaurants and shops being shut over the past weeks for substandard service delivery.
In another such action in Karachi, the district administration took to task those who involved in what is being claimed as selling of rotten meat. The authorities seized 100 maunds of meat from Empress Market.
Deputy Commissioner District South, Salim Rajput said two persons were taken into custody during the raid.
He said beef under the label of mutton was being supplied in the market.
