RAWALPINDI: The Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of Rawalpindi Police has recovered 20 stolen vehicles worth millions of rupees, said City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Abdul Raziq Cheema.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday he informed that after taking over charge as CPO Rawalpindi he took notice of increasing vehicles theft cases and gave the task to Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Operations Mujahid Akbar Khan.
The SSP constituted a special team to control vehicles theft and to recover stolen vehicles. The team recovered 20 stolen vehicles during the last two weeks, which were found tempered.
The vehicles including Mehran registration number, LZQ 3314, Core KG-168, Suzuki Carry Van, Model 2007, NF-429, Carry Van, Model 2005, LZM-104, Honda Civic LED-6414, Toyota Corolla, GLI LOZ-3550, Core LZQ-7673, Suzuki Alto LZQ-3233, Core Model 2001, ADH-530, Honda City, Model 2005, LWM-9642, Honda Civic, LW-160, Honda Civic LEA-3973, Mehran Car, Model 1991, AJKC-1390, Honda Civic LWM-9040, Honda Civic, Model 2007, LED-4917, Mehran, Model 2003, LRR-6744, Carry Van, Model 2007, LEB-1427, Honda Civic LWD-680, Cultus, Model 2006 LU-692 and Suzuki Carry Van, Model 2007, LEJ-1264 were recovered.
The recovered vehicles were stolen from different districts including Lahore, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi.
ACLC had impounded a number of vehicles during ongoing special drive in Rawalpindi.
ACLC also contacted the manufacturing companies of the vehicles, which were found tampered to ascertain the position for further investigation into the matter.
The CPO appreciated the performance of ACLC and directed them to further improve their performance and enhance vigilance to eliminate the car jacking activities. (APP)
