SIALKOT: The people in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur, Satrah, Chawinda, Badiana and surrounding areas on Saturday spent a day of great ordeal as they experienced 22 hours long power load shedding.
Almost all the social, business and civic activities remained badly paralyzed due to this what the local people and traders said, unbearable 22 hours long load shedding of electricity here.
The local perturbed people said that the supply of electricity today remained suspended for 22 hours (almost the whole of last night and whole of the day Saturday) in the above-mentioned areas. The concerned officials of Gepco in Sialkot said that the power supply remained suspended direct from Islamabad, in this regard.
Meanwhile, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) have strongly rejected the recent massive 5.80 percent increase in power tariff by Nepra, saying that this increase would prove a cut throat for the Sialkot industries which were already on the verge of collapse due to uncontrolled worst energy crisis.
Talking to the newsmen the SCCI President Sheikh Abdul Majid has expressed grave concern over this increase in power tariff by Nepra, demanding immediate withdrawal of this increase, in the larger interest f the general public and especially the business community of the country, in this regard.
