WhatsApp is releasing a new call menu feature for chats and groups as the messaging app continues to enhance the calling experience for its users.
The new update is only available to some Android beta testers and can be downloaded through the Google Play Store.
The feature adds a call menu to the top bar of the conversations or chat boxes. This replaced the previous two buttons used to initiate voice and video calls with one button.
In single person chats, this button displays a voice call icon but this does not mean that the users can not make video calls anymore as when users tap on the call button, a new menu open ups and allows the user to choose between a voice or video call.
The menu also gives a shortcut to quickly create and share a call link. This move from WhatsApp will make it easier for people to invite others to join a call.
The new update also allows the user to select which group members to call rather than calling the entire list of participants.
