ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari said peaceful transfer of power is taking place for the first time in the history of Pakistan, adding that he welcomes the new democratic government and hopes it will give Pak-China friendship the same importance as previous governments.
While addressing a gathering organized at the Presidency in honour of Chinese Premier Li Kiqiang, President Zardari said that he has made nine official visits to China and tried his best to strengthen ties between the two countries.
The President also said that the Pak-China friendship has passed all tests, adding that bilateral relations between the two countries have strengthened in recent years.
Expressing gratitude towards China for cooperation in the economic development of Pakistan, President Zardari said Pakistan wants to benefit from the experiences of China and that there are extensive opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries.
President Zardari said China has contributed greatly towards world peace and that regional peace and stability are important for the future of the new generation.
