London police assessing Altaf Hussain broadcast

LONDON: London police is assessing the broadcast of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain in which he allegedly threatened the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Karachi.

According to our correspondent in London, Murtaza Ali Shah, the metropolitan police began the investigation of the telephonic address of the MQM Chief in the wake of countless calls it received against him.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had also held Altaf Hussain directly responsible for the murder his party’s leader of Sindh Chapter, Zahra Shahid Hussain on May 19, 2013 in Defence area of Karachi.

Khan had also blamed the British government for not taking adequate steps to save his party’s senior leader.

Earlier in the day, the MQM announced dissolution of its Coordination committees (Rabita committees) in Karachi and London, a day after the party supremo Altaf Hussain said that cleansing process has begun within the MQM.

The party has formed a twelve-member temporary committee to oversee the party's affairs. Members of the new coordination committee would be elected during a general worker meeting here on Saturday.

A day earlier, MQM’s Karachi Tanzeemi Committee (KTC) was dissolved, while the basic membership of Hamad Siddiqui, In charge of KTC, was also revoked as part of a cleansing drive that MQM leader Altaf Hussain launched a few days back.
