WhatsApp is working on an exciting new feature that will allow users to share their favourite music from Spotify in status updates and it will be available in a future update.

When sharing music from Spotify, users will see an additional option to post music from the streaming app as a WhatsApp status update, alongside the usual option to send it as a message to a contact or a group, WABetaInfo reported citing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.3 update.

If users select this option, the popular Meta-owned instant-messaging app will process and generate a preview for the shared track, which will be displayed in the status update.

The preview will include essential details such as the song title, artist name, and album cover, providing an engaging visual representation of the shared music.

This feature is similar to how music sharing works on Instagram Stories when users post a song from Spotify.

The new feature makes music sharing more interactive, as viewers can instantly access the shared track without needing to search for it manually.

Similar to Instagram, WhatsApp will integrate a "Play on Spotify" button within the status update, allowing viewers to open the song directly in the Spotify app with a single tap.

It is important to note that WhatsApp will not have access to the specific songs users share from Spotify. Since status updates are protected by WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption, only the intended recipients will be able to view the shared content.

This feature is under development and will be available in a future update.
