ISLAMABAD: The annual Pakistan Day parade on March 23 will be held on a limited scale this year due to the observance of Ramadan, sources said on Thursday.

According to the sources, the parade will take place within the premises of the president's house in the federal capital with traditional enthusiasm and with President Asif Ali Zardari serving as chief guest.

Despite the scaled-down nature of the event, contingents of all three branches of the armed forces will participate fully, showcasing their discipline and professionalism, the sources revealed.

Additionally, the parade will feature a salute to the chief guest by the armed forces, a flypast by the Pakistan Air Force fighter jets, and a performance by the Pakistan Army's renowned pipe and percussion band.

Furthermore, foreign ambassadors and other prominent figures have also been invited to attend the ceremony.

Pakistan Day, observed annually on March 23, marks the adoption of the historic Lahore Resolution on this day in 1940 which provided a framework for the realisation of the goal of a separate homeland for Muslims of South Asia.
