Former senator and ex-PPP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar hosted an iftar dinner in honour of opposition leaders on Wednesday.
The gathering brought together key political figures from various parties amid growing discussions on opposition unity.
Prominent attendees included JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) head Allama Nasir Abbas, and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) leader Sahibzada Hamid Raza.
Representatives from other parties also participated, including BNP-Mengal’s Sajid Tareen, GDA’s Zain Shah, and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Liaqat Baloch. Additionally, PTI leaders Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan, Shehram Tarakai, and Latif Khosa were present at the iftar.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the deteriorating law and order situation and the possibility of a broader opposition alliance against the government.
Meanwhile, the multi-party opposition alliance, Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP), had already announced plans to convene an all-parties conference (APC) on the country’s security and political situation after Eid ul Fitr.
The announcement came after the opposition skipped the high-level in-camera meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security. However, Fazl and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur were present.
