Funeral prayer of COAS' mother offered in Rawalpindi

Top political leaders and military officials attend funeral prayer led by Gen Asim Munir

The funeral prayer for Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir's mother was offered at the Race Course Ground in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The army chief himself led the funeral prayer.

Top officials and political leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, ruling PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, among others, attended the funeral prayer.

Additionally, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, top military officials, former army chiefs General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, General (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, and other notables also offered the funeral prayer.

Earlier, President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed deep sorrow, offering prayers for the departed soul and support to the grieving family.

President Zardari in his condolence message said that he equally shared the grief of Gen Munir and his family.

Interior Minister Naqvi also conveyed his condolences, praying for the deceased’s elevated rank in the hereafter and patience for the bereaved family.

Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah expressed profound sadness, praying for divine mercy upon the departed soul and patience for the grieving family.
