NOTTINGHAM: New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to field against England in the third and final one-day international at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.
England, who'd already lost the series at 2-0 down, made four changes to their side in what was both sides' final one-day international before Thursday's start of the Champions Trophy 50-over tournament in the UK.
They rested strike bowler James Anderson and brought in all-rounder Ravi Bopara, a medium-pacer.
Meanwhile pacemen Stuart Broad and Steven Finn, who missed the first two matches of this series with knee and shin injuries respectively, replaced the expensive Chris Woakes and Jade Dernbach. And James Tredwell came in for fellow off-spinner Graeme Swann.
New Zealand recalled spearhead quick Tim Southee and brought in hard-hitting batsman and left-arm seamer Colin Munro, with Doug Bracewell and Grant Elliott dropping out.
The Black Caps went 2-0 up -- England's first home ODI series defeat for four years -- after a five-wicket win at Lord's was followed by an 86-run success at Southampton, with opener Martin Guptill scoring hundreds in both matches including a New Zealand record 189 not out in the second ODI.
England begin their Champions Trophy campaign against arch-rivals Australia at Edgbaston on Saturday, with New Zealand opening their tournament against Sri Lanka in Cardiff on Sunday.
