ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said on Monday no institution would be allowed to operate outside of its limits.
Addressing a ceremony held to mark the new judicial year, the CJP said democracy was based on the distribution or powers among institutions and this ensures balance. There should be a democratic structure under which power is with the elected representatives of people, he added.
The CJP further said according to Islamic interpretation, the principles of democracy, tolerance and social justice should be followed.
Chief Justice Jamali also regretted slow decisions in cases adding that low-income groups had to wait a long time for justice. He emphsised the judiciary would try to ensure the speedy disposal of cases.
According to the CJP, the sit-in was a reason for delay in cases as lawyers and litigants had problems reaching the court for several months.
CJP Jamali added due to public interest the full court was formed in constitutional amendment case which affected hearing of other cases.
