QUETTA: Frontier Corps personnel with the help of intelligence agencies carried out an operation and arrested eight suspects allegedly involved in an armed attack on the Jiwani airport in Gwadar district.
An FC spokesman said the detained suspects were members of a banned militant outfit and were involved in terrorist activities and acts of target killing. The suspects have been shifted to an unknown location for further investigation, he said.
At least two Civil Aviation Authority engineers were killed when heavily-armed militants launched the attack on CAA installations at the Jiwani airport near Balochistan’s Gwadar port in the early hours of August 30.
The attackers damaged technical aviation navigation equipment and destroyed the VOR system that helps navigation during the landing of aircraft.
