QUETTA: Quaid-e-Azam Residency Ziarat was badly damaged in armed attack by unknown assailants at about 1:30am late night between Friday and Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Ziarat Tahir Nadeem said that unidentified armed attackers riding two bikes came at Quaid-e-Azam Residency and they attacked the wooden residency with sophisticated weapons that damaged it.
He said that earlier, the assailants opened fire at security guards deployed at the residency. He, however, avoided telling further details.
Police sources told APP that apparently, four rockets were fired at the residency from mountainous sides those landed at the residency and created havoc.
They said that articles used by founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah were burnt to ash in the attack.
They said that hand grenades were also hurled by armed attackers on the residency.
They said that a security guard, who was deployed there, was killed in the attack.
Bomb Disposal Squad sources said that they found Improvised Explosive Devices weighing three kg that were planted within the premise. The BDS experts defused these bombs.
The law enforcement agencies personnel rushed to the site and cordoned off the entire area to trace the suspects. Further probe was in process.
It is mentioned here that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was brought to Ziarat Residency when he was suffering from illness.
He was cared by his sister, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, and a team of senior doctors there. (APP)
