MQM activist among eight killed in separate incidents
KARACHI: Eight people, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist and an alleged dacoit, were killed and eight others injured in separate incidents in the city on Saturday.

Unknown armed motorcyclists opened fire in Kharadar, killing one person and injuring another.

According to police, both of them were MQM activists of Kharadar Unit. The victim was identified as Kashif while the injured was Siddique. They were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy and treatment respectively.

An alleged bandit was killed and his accomplice injured during a police encounter in Qasba Colony area of Orangi Town.

According to SP Orangi Town Chaudhry Asad, a police party intercepted two dacoits near Cage Hotel in Qasba Colony. As a result one of the dacoits was killed while another sustained bullet wounds. The injured bandit is in police custody. The body and injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.

A young girl and her close relative were shot dead by a man in Lalabad area of Landhi after she refused to accept his marriage proposal, police said.

SHO Sukkan Mohammad Rafiq said that Saifur Rehman alias Faisal opened fire on Dilnaz, 25, and Imran, 30, while they were standing at a bus stop. "Both of them died on the spot. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsies.

Rescue sources said that unidentified men opened fire near Lasbellah Bridge, killing a unidentified man. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.

A 20-year-old unidentified man was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Mauripur. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for a postmortem.

Unidentified men opened fire near Old Sabzi Mandi at Super Highway, killing Inayat, 40, son of Fazl Subhan. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.

A 60-year-old man, Malik Altaf, was killed during an armed robbery in Aram Bagh. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem.

In another incident, a 30-year-old man, Ahmed Rasool, son of Taj Rasool, was injured during a dacoity in Aram Bagh. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

A 38-year-old policeman, Rafiq, sustained bullet wounds near Parking Plaza in Saddar during gunfight with dacoits. He was shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Three people were injured by unidentified men in Garden area of the city. They were identified as Akhter, 50, son of Juma Khan; Ismeen, 50, son of Himmat Khan; and Rehman, 35. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Moreover, unidentified men opened fire in Agra Taj Colony area of Lyari, injuring an unidentified person. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment. (PPI)
