OCCUPIED SRINAGAR/ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of Line of Control and all over the world observed‚ Youme Shuhada-e-Kashmir on Saturday to pay homage to 22 Kashmiris who were martyred in 1931 to free Kashmir from the brutalities of despotic Dogra rulers.

The tragic day is the milestone in the history of Kashmiri struggle against foreign occupation which still continues under the Indian alien rule.

Complete shutdown‚ processions and demonstrations marked the Kashmir Martyrs Day on Saturday to reaffirm the people's resolve to continue the mission of liberation martyrs‚ despite all odds.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman‚ Mirwaiz Umar Farooq‚ veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader‚ Syed Ali Gilani and other liberation organisations and leaders.

It was on July 13 in 1931 when the Dogra troops shot dead 22 Kashmiris‚ one after the other‚ outside the Central Jail in Srinagar.
