KARACHI: Former president of Pakistan and co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari has said Mir Murtaza Bhutto, his brother in law and chairman of his own faction of the PPP, had dedicated his life for struggle against dictatorship.
In a statement issued in connection with the death anniversary of Bhutto, Zardari said Murtaza Bhutto never bowed before the dictator despite witnessing murders of his brother and father and undergoing difficulties in exile.
“Murtaza Bhutto witnessed cruelties meted out to his mother (late Begum Nusrat Bhutto) and sister ( late Benazir Bhutto),” said he.
He said Murtaza Bhutto was "mysteriously" targeted in armed attack in 1996 and later police officer tasked with investigation of murder was also "mysteriously" assassinated.
The former president further said it was collective responsibility of all the individuals, communities, countries and governments to achieve peace.
