DIG Operations among 30 killed in Quetta suicide blast

QUETTA: DIG Operations Quetta Fayyaz Ahmed Sumbal and DSP Head Quarter Shams-ur-Rehman were among 30 killed while 50 others were injured in a suicide attack in Police Lines Quetta on Thursday.

The explosion took place at the mosque where preparations were being made for the funeral prayers of Station House Officer (SHO) City Mohibullah, who was shot dead earlier on Thursday.

Sources said high ranking police officials were also attending the funeral prayer.

DIG Operations Fayyaz Sumbul who was seriously injured was rushed to the CMH Quetta, where he succumbed to his injuries. He had recently been transfered to Balochistan from Punjab.

The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital and CMH Quetta. The condition of some injured is said to be critical.

An eyewitness said the deceased included SSP and DSP level officials.

According to Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) 8kg explosive material was used in the blast and that it was a suicide attack.
