PESHAWAR: Peshawar qualified for the semi-final after recording victory against DFA Hangu in the one-sided affair quarter-final match of the ongoing 9th NBP Inter-District Football Championship being played here at Sumbal Khan Football Ground, Qayyum Sports Complex on Friday.
Former Pakistan football team skipper Aajiz Khan was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the match the players of both Peshawar Red and District Hangu were introduced to him. Organizing Secretary Basit Kamal and large number of spectators were also present and witnessed the thrilling match.
Peshawar forwards featuring Atta Ullah, Siraj, Muneeb, Awais, Asad and mid-fielder Shakoor played well by making incisive rallies of attack and soon got the lead through Asad Khan on the field attempt.
Asad got a free ball from link-man Shakoor Khan and quickly zoomed toward the rival goal-post by netting a fine goal to make the tally 1-0. The goal injected new vigor in the rank of Peshawar Red which scored another goal through link-man Shakoor Khan on the field attempt.
The 2-0 lead gave extra-boost to Peshawar Red team who dominated the match. Hangu, a very good team, failed to click in the match against Peshawar Red and were looked tired most to the time. Hangu in both the first and second-half tried their hard to reduce the margin but they were failed because of the tight marking of Peshawar Red forwards. At half-time Peshawar Red was leading by 2-0.
After the second session Peshawar also dominated and did not allow Hangu to play with free hands. This was Siraj Khan who slammed in a beautiful goal on the field attempt to make the tally 3-0. Thus Peshawar won the match by 3-0.
The match was supervised by Anwar Khan while Zahid Khan and Allauddin acted as deputy referees while Atta Ullah acted as match commissioner. (APP)
