ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Sunday that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) committee had submitted its inquiry report, in light of which a treason case against military dictator Pervez Musharraf would be initiated.
Addressing a news conference at the Punjab House‚ the interior minister said the inquiry committee was constituted on the orders of the Supreme Court. Nisar added that the government studied the report and decided to approach the Chief Justice of Pakistan to form a three-member special court to hear the treason case against Musharraf.
Nisar said the Chief Justice will identify three High Courts and one Judge from each of these courts will be included in the special court. He said the government will also nominate a Special Public Prosecutor who will prosecute the case from government's side.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Musharraf will have to be held accountable for violating the constitution and detention of judges.
On Rawalpindi carnage, Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said that situation was improving in the country including Islamabad and Rawalpindi after the unfortunate Rawalpindi incident that occurred on Friday.
Nisar said negotiations were held with Ulema of all schools of thought, adding that the Ulema demonstrated their prudence.
