Top police officials removed in wake of Rawalpindi tragedy
RAWALPINDI: The Regional Police Officer (RPO) Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh, City Police Officer (CPO) Bilal Siddiq and SP VVIP Security Dar Ali Khattak have been removed from their posts.

The RPO of Dera Ghazi Khan Akhtar Hayat will replace Zaeem Iqbal, while Bilal Siddiq has been appointed as SP VVIP Security.

The decision came in the wake of the Rawalpindi tragedy during the Ashura procession on Friday November 15. A curfew had been imposed in the city following the clashes which was lifted on Monday November 18.

Section 144 still remains imposed in the city and strict security arrangements are in place outside places of worship. The army also remains deployed in order to tackle any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the tragedy rose to eleven after another body was recovered from underneath the rubble of a building in the city.
