KARACHI: Fatal dengue viral fever claimed yet another life in Sindh province on Monday increasing the death toll to 30 in 2013, said Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh.
Dr Mullick said 77 years old man, resident of Thatta expired on 23rd of November and the case was reported to Dengue Surveillance Cell on Monday. He said elderly man was admitted in hospital on 12th of November.
He said a total of 25 dengue fever patients have died in Karachi in 2013 while three in Hyderabad and one each in Mirpurkhas and Thatta so far.
He said 10 more dengue viral fever cases were reported in the province four inpatient, six OPD cases from 24th to 25 November.
He said all new cases were reported in Karachi city.
Dr Mullick said that a total of 4,869 dengue fever cases have been reported in Sindh province since January 2013 out of which 4,236 were detected in Karachi and 633 in rest of Sindh province.
He said 16 dengue cases were reported late from hospitals.
He further informed that 572 cases were detected in Hyderabad, 21 in Mirpurkhas, 10 in Jamshoro, seven in Thatta, four each in Sukkur and Shikarpur two each in Kambar, Sanghar, Dadu, Larkana and Kashmore and one each in Khairpur, Naushehro Feroze, Badin, Tharparkar and Umerkot since January 2013.
