Justice Tassaduq Jillani to take charge as CJ on December 12
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has approved the appointment of Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani as Pakistan’s next chief justice under Article 175 Section 3 of the Constitution. The Law Ministry has issued a notification of Justice Jillani's appointment.

The president approved the appointment after receiving the recommendation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will retire on December 11 following which the senior most judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani will be appointed as the Chief Justice.

Earlier, the Supreme Court Registrars office had written to President Mamnoon Hussain seeking a time for the oath taking ceremony. The ceremony will be held on December 12 at 9:00 AM at the Presidency.

Justice Jillani has been serving as the acting Chief Election Commissioner.
