GILGIT: An anti-terrorism court in Gilgit Baltistan has sentenced Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain to a total of 81 years, including two life sentences, in prison over his controversial speeches.
Reading out the verdict in court today, judge Raja Shahbaz Khan further penalised Altaf with Rs 2.4 million fine and ordered authorities to seize all of his property.
The case had been filed by Gilgit citizen Mir Baz Khan against Altaf Hussain at the Airport police station over the MQM chief's controversial statements.
Last month, the Lahore High Court issued orders restricting Pakistani television channels and newspapers from broadcasting or publishing speeches, statements, photos or activities of the MQM chief.
Altaf Hussain has been living in self-imposed exile in Britain for over two decades.
