Some people do not have courage to concede defeat: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz Sharif, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took a hit at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and tweeted Monday evening that some people simply do not have the courage and grace to concede defeat.

In a message on Twitter, she said:

Some people simply don't have the courage & grace to concede defeat. Don't embarrass yourself further & let Pakistan prosper.

In another message Maryam claimed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lost the provincial seat (PP-147) because the party candidate had failed to deliver.

We lost provincial seat because our candidate had failed to deliver. PM has made it clear to all, either deliver or go home. Ppl come first.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan earlier today had said that his party was investigating "the number of PTI votes thrown out of NA-122 at the last minute."

"We are investigating the number of PTI votes thrown out of NA122 at the last minute & will then approach the ECP," said the PTI chairman in a message posted on Twitter.

Former National Assembly Speaker and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ayaz Sadiq regained the NA-122 seat by a thin margin, bagging 74,525 votes against 72,082 votes received by PTI candidate Aleem Khan.

Although the PTI accepted the by-poll results, it blamed the ruling PML-N of pre-poll rigging by using state machinery for their campaign, and complained that several voters' names who had been previously registered in NA-122 had now been moved to other constituencies.
